October is Respect Life Month, a time for joining with people of good will in celebrating the gift of human life.  “Be Not Afraid,” the 2018 theme chosen by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, exhorts us to be courageous and bold in proclaiming the truth that all human life is sacred from the moment of conception to natural death. Each person is a unique image of the Divine Life and each is deserving of love and respect.

During this month of October, I commend all in our Diocese to Mary, the Mother of Life, and let us seek the intercession of St. John Paul II who worked tirelessly during his pontificate to build a culture of life, and whose feast day we celebrate on October 22nd .
