Mary’s Shelter celebrates decade serving homeless pregnant women

A 10th anniversary celebration and fundraiser for
Mary’s Shelter – offering housing, support and love to
homeless pregnant women in Fredericksburg
– will be held
Aug. 13 at the Fredericksburg Expo and Conference Center,
2371 Carl D. Silver Pkwy., Fredericksburg, from 6 to 10 p.m.

The evening features a keynote talk by Star Parker, founder
and president of the Center for Urban Renewal and Education,
a public policy think tank promoting market-based solutions
to poverty. Keiana During, a former resident of Mary’s
Shelter and mother of two, will share her story during the
celebration, which includes dinner. Special guests include
Cardinal Sean Patrick O’Malley, archbishop of Boston; Father
Donald J. Rooney, pastor of St. Bernadette Church in
Springfield; and David Bereit, national director of 40 Days
for Life.
