The Notre Dame Dragons from Middleburg are currently ranked first in the entire Washington area in boys’ basketball.

The O'Connell Knights and the Paul VI Panthers are ranked 16th and 20th respectively by the Washington Post.

The Dragons are coached by Larry Cullinane (third season). NDA recently shocked the high school basketball world with a 67-65 road victory over Montrose Christian. The Dragons entered the game ranked fourth in the region. Montrose Christian, coached by Stu Vetter, was ranked second. Oxon Hill had been ranked number one.

The Dragons slayed Montrose and leapfrogged over Oxon Hill in the latest poll. This is the first time in history that one of the five Catholic school boys’ basketball teams has achieved this feat.

The Dragons weigh in with a 14-0 overall record and are obviously in first place in the "Beltway League."

Key players this season include Marcus Sikes, Todd Galloway, Daevon Haskins, Dennard Abrahamj, Joe Posey, Gordon Johnson and Gerard Barrett.
