With solemn Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament and a lecture by theologian George
Weigel, the Catholic Information Center rededicated its new larger office in downtown
Washington.
"This is a new era for the Center," said Father John McCloskey III, director
of the Center. "With your prayers and generous contributions, we are confident that
our work of evangelization in downtown Washington can be a harbinger of the new springtime
of the Church that the Holy Father foresees for our country," he added.
The new Center has 2,500 titles and 10,000 volumes, and includes a Spanish section with
300 titles and many videos and CDs.
Father McCloskey said that new spaces will be set aside for lectures, workshops,
conferences and seminars. "We are in a privileged location, close to many Metro
stations, easily accessed from either Virginia or Maryland."
The new Center is located at 1501 K St. NW, Washington, and can be reached by telephone
at 202/783-2062.
After the reception author George Weigel autographed books and talked about "John
Paul II and the New Evangelization in the United States."
