Oakcrest School Graduation Set for May 24

A Baccalaureate Mass will be celebrated by chaplain Father Ronald
Gillis for Oakcrest School graduates and their families on Friday, May 24 at 7 p.m. at St. John Church in McLean. The graduation ceremony for the Class of 2002 will be at Oakcrest School, May 25, at 3 p.m., followed by a reception.

The commencement speaker will be Dr. May M. Keys, assistant professor of government and international studies at Notre Dame University. Keys is a 1984 graduate of Oakcrest, and received her bachelor’s degree from Boston College and her master’s and doctorate degrees from the University of Toronto. Keys has research and teaching interests in political philosophy, with a special focus in ethics, Christianity and political thought.  Her article "Aquinas’ Two Pedagogies:  A Reconsideration of the Relation between Law and Moral Virtue" appeared in the American Journal of Political Science in July 2001.  She is completing a book manuscript entitled Virtue, Law and the Common Good:  The Relevance of Thomas Aquinas, and has received a John M. Olin Faculty Fellowship from the National Association of Scholars.

The Oakcrest School Class of 2002 graduates and the college they will be attending are Anne Marie Crum, George Mason University; Catherine Elizabeth Currano, University of Maryland; Marianne Jennifer Datiles, salutatorian, Johns Hopkins University; Claire McKeon Hadley, University of Notre Dame; Jennifer Marie Horvath, University of Dallas; Monica Raphaella Hosky, waiting a year before pursuing college; Aryn A. Klich, University of Pennsylvania; Kathleen Marie Kuzma, Boston College; Elizabeth Marie Loria, Mary Washington College; Arame Ngom, University of Montreal; Michelle Ann Royden, James Madison University; Myrna Perla Salmeron, Trinity College; Christine Marie Schepis, Mary Washington College; Clare Marie Storck, valedictorian, Christendom College; Ursula Anna Syski, University of Dallas.
