Franciscan Friar of the Renewal Father Benedict Groeschel will lead a
holy hour and talk on Jan. 21 at Blessed Sacrament Church, 1427 W. Braddock
Rd., Alexandria, at 7:30 p.m.
A year after he was nearly killed by a car and in conjunction with the
Year of the Eucharist, he will speak about "What the Holy Eucharist Can Mean
in Your Life." Father Groeschel will discuss Christ’s presence in the
Eucharist, the great gift the Eucharist is to the Church and how families
can better take advantage of this gift.
His newest book, Praying to Our Lord Jesus Christ: Prayers and
Meditations Through the Centuries, will be available for purchase. The
book was written while he was recovering from the accident and includes a
collection of prayers with a strong devotion to Jesus. Proceeds from a free
will offering will be donated to assist Father Groeschel with his ministry
to the poor. Father Groeschel will also be available for autographs after
the talk.
