DeMatha Defeats Good Counsel Again
In the WCAC Title Game Nov. 20 DeMatha Catholic High School in
Hyattsville, Md., defeated Our Lady of Good Counsel High School in Wheaton,
Md., 21-20 in overtime in Annapolis.
Good Counsel, coached by Bob Milloy, led 7-0 and 14-7 after the first two
quarters respectively. But DeMatha, coached by Bill McGregor, tied the
contest at 14 apiece in the latter stages of the fourth quarter.
The Good Counsel Falcons lost the overtime coin flip and proceeded on
offense first in the extra period. A spectacular pass play from quarterback
Zach Ingle to wide receiver Drew Gloster gave the Falcons a 20-14 lead, but
the extra point attempt clanged off the left upright.
The DeMatha Stags scored when wide receiver Kenny Tate scored on a
reverse. Matt Campbell added the point after touchdown to give DeMatha a
come-from-behind 21-20 victory.
