All three diocesan schools turned in some excellent results at the recent
WMPSSDL Championships (Washington Metropolitan Private School Swim/Dive
League Championships). Nearly 35 schools participated in the prestigious
event, which was held Feb. 12 at George Mason University in Fairfax.

"We didn't have Kate Ziegler for this meet," said O’Connell head coach
Evan Stiles. Ziegler won two world titles and set an American record at a
meet in New York last weekend (see sidebar story).
"I was very happy with the second place finish," said Stiles, who is
assisted by Alex Remorenko. "Kaeley Boyle in particular had an excellent
meet. The girls stepped up and did well."

"Our goal on the girl’s side was to make the top five. We just missed it.
We've got a lot of freshman and sophomores on the girl’s side and that bodes
well for the future," said second-year head coach Kevin Ahearn. He is

told the guys not to worry about team results, just go out there and swim as

boys are young. We are building for the future here at Ireton," said
