
Annual March for Life to Be Held Jan. 22

The annual March for Life, for pro-lifers to march to the Supreme
Court in defense of life, will be held Monday, Jan. 22, on the National
Mall in Washington at 1 p.m. The pre-march will begin at noon. Parishioners
from the Arlington Diocese will meet at the Garden Ice Rink on the
north side of the Mall, on Constitution Avenue just west of 7th Street,
at 1 p.m. Red “Arlington 4 Life” hats, headbands and scarves
are available through the diocesan Respect Life Office and can be
reserved by e-mailing respectlife@arlingtondioese.org or calling 703/841-3817.
Several events will lead up to the march.
Project Rachel founder Vicki Thorn will speak on "Assisting the
Post-Abortive Person" on Friday, Jan. 19, at 8:30 a.m. at in
Burke Hall at the Cathedral of St. Thomas More in Arlington. On Jan.
21, “The Eucharist Is Our Life,” a pro-life teen rally,
will be held at Paul VI Catholic High School, 10675 Fairfax Blvd.,
Fairfax, at 5 p.m. The rally includes Mass, dinner, adoration and
music. Attendance is limited to pre-registered parish youth groups.

“Ask the Priest Night,” sponsored by the parish’
pro-life group, will be held at St. Rita School, 3801 Russell Rd.,
Alexandria, at 7 p.m.
“Mass and National Prayer Vigil for Life” will be held
at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception,
400 Michigan Ave., N.E., Washington, at 8 p.m. Rosaries will be prayed,
and holy hours and exposition of the Blessed Sacrament will be available
throughout the night.
A youth rally and Mass will be held Jan. 22 prior to the march at
the Verizon Center, 601 F St., N.W., Washington, with doors opening
at 7 a.m., confession at 8, rally at 8:45 and Mass at 10. Arlington
participants will gather at Section 112. Fr. Benedict Groeschel will
speak at Blessed Sacrament Church in Alexandria at 7:30 p.m. on Jan.
22. A Holy Hour for Life will proceed his talk at 6:30 p.m.
