
O’Connell Finishes Second in State Wrestling

At the recent Virginia Independent Schools State Wrestling Championships,
all three schools had some noteworthy accomplishments.
The order of finish/team scores were: 1) St. Christopher’s,
Richmond – 283.50 team points, 2) Bishop O'Connell, Arlington
- 216.00, 3) Woodberry Forest, Orange - 172.00, 4) Norfolk Academy
- 167.00, 5) Paul VI, Fairfax - 120.50 and 6) Bishop Ireton, Alexandria
- 118.00.
Thirty private schools participated.
O'Connell was led by Erik Kurtzke (first at 140 pounds), John Curtin
(first at 152), Nam Dunbar (second at 119), Drew Carpenter (second
at 145), Tom Baxter (second at 160), James Young (third at 112) and
Jonathan Carpenter (third at 130).
Paul VI was led by Alex Soltis (first at 189).
Ireton was led by Tim Dean (first at 171) and Chris Boucher (fourth
at 152).
