    Poverty Education and Outreach Manager

    Under the supervision of the Director for Education and Outreach, the Poverty Education and Outreach Manager provides outreach and education on the mission and activities of the Catholic Campaign for Human Development, on the Church’s teaching about poverty, and on the reality of poverty in the U.S.  The Poverty Education and Outreach Manager also contributes to the department’s general efforts to share Catholic social teaching and build the capacity of the Church to act on it.  The Poverty Education & Outreach Manager helps promote and implement the bishops’ strategic plan for the Conference, and demonstrates shared qualities of effectiveness in all work interactions.

    • Coordinate efforts to educate the Catholic community about the mission and activities of the Catholic Campaign for Human Development, about the Church’s teaching on poverty, and about the reality of poverty in the United States.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with CCHD diocesan directors and funded groups (as appropriate).
    • Coordinate orientation and training for new CCHD diocesan directors, including exploring “distance learning” and electronic strategies.
    • Develop educational resources and tools, including web-based resources, as appropriate to accomplish the tasks above, sometimes in collaboration with partners, such as JustFaith Ministries, Catholic Charities USA, etc.
    • Contribute to the department’s general efforts to share Catholic social teaching and build the capacity of the Church to act on it.
    • Other outreach and education activities as needed.

    Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree required; MA preferred Theology, social work, or related field Requires extensive knowledge of and commitment to the Catholic Church and its social teachings. Excellent written and oral communication skills and relational abilities required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Internet, e-mail and other communication tools. Strong planning and organizational skills. Spanish preferred
