    ASSISTANT DIRECTOR, Laity, Marriage, Family Life, and Youth

    The Assistant Director is a practicing Catholic, registered in a Catholic parish, who embraces, upholds and promotes in every aspect of his/her work the authentic teaching of the Catholic Church. Under the direction of the Committee on Laity, Marriage, Family Life and Youth, and under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Assistant Director assists the Executive Director in the aspects of the Committee and Secretariat's work pertaining to the promotion and pastoral support of marriage and the family and the mission and vocation of the laity. The Assistant Director has major program responsibilities in the areas of marriage and family life and selected areas of laity, including the dignity, vocation, and mission of women. Contributes to the Bishops' strategic plan for the Conference. Demonstrates willingness and ability to understand, respect and contribute to the USCCB mission and to fulfill job duties in accordance with its Catholic identity.

    Master's degree required. Theology, religious studies or pastoral ministry required; social sciences and humanities desirable and could serve if theological training. Understanding of and commitment to the mission and teachings of the Catholic Church. Knowledge, familiarity, and application of the Church's teachings on marriage and the family, laity, and the dignity of women, with emphasis on an authentic anthropology and ecclesiology. Excellent writing, editing and public speaking skills. Proficiency in technological aspects of office life, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, e-mail, social media, etc.:4-5 years' relevant experience in national or diocesan work.
