    Director of Faith Formation

    The Director of Faith Formation will plan, develop, organize, and execute, the faith formation programs for Saint Bernadette Parish, including religious education for Grades 1-8, and Sacramental prep (including Baptism, First Eucharist, Reconciliation, Confirmation). In addition, this position will also act as consultant for some Adult Faith Formation endeavors as well as support the activities of the RCIA Coordinator and RCIA Team, and organization for Vacation Bible School in the summer.

    The Director of Faith Formation recruits and provides recruitment, training and oversight of catechists and volunteers in faith formation programs and faith formation teams; researches and selects appropriate materials and media for programs and processes; and communicates with parishioners, Pastoral Council, and the Diocese of Arlington, and keeps abreast of the current trends and issues of faith formation and catechesis.

    As a member of the Pastoral Team, The Director of Faith Formation upholds the mission of the Church to evangelize and bring others to Christ through a willingness to collaborate closely with the school principal, directors of youth ministry and program coordinator. The ability to develop and incorporate new media and communication methods, to explore new approaches, outreach, and creative initiatives that will strengthen Christian Formation is vital.  Ultimately we would like to grow this ministry to consider the needs of lifelong formation in faith.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    The candidate is a vibrant Catholic in good standing who is passionate about the Catholic Faith and takes to heart the command of our Savior to "Go therefore, and make disciples..."

    - A Master's Degree in Religious Education is preferred. Five years or more professional experience with a Catholic parish or institution is also necessary.
    - Ability to create meaningful relationships and establish trust. Skilled in working with diverse groups.
    - Must be proficient with Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook etc.) and traditional and innovative communication technology.
