    Program Associate - Secretariat of Pro Life Activities

    The Program Associate is a practicing Catholic who embraces and promotes, in every aspect of his/her work, the authentic teaching of the Catholic Church. Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Program Associate staffs the USCCB Committee on Pro-Life Activities and is responsible for cultivating and maintaining the relationship of the Secretariat with the bishop-appointed diocesan directors throughout the United States through regular correspondence, planning of major conferences, events and trainings, and coordinating meetings and logistics. The Program Associate also coordinates two Directors' Only Websites, all communications with state Catholic conference directors and staff, as well as the practical details necessary for meetings of the Bishops' Working Groups and administrative and developmental support to other professional staff. Contributes to the Bishops' strategic plan for the Conference. Demonstrates willingness and ability to understand, respect and contribute to the USCCB mission and to fulfill job duties in accordance with its Catholic identity.

    Requirements:
    Undergraduate degree or equivalent required. In the major field of Business, Communications, Theology, Bioethics. Experience in Spanish helpful, but not required. A minimum of 2-3 years related work experience.

    Other Specialized Training:  

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, and Excel) and online communications tools
      (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.).

    • Ability to assist/conduct research projects.

    • Strong speaking, writing, editing skills, including demonstrated experience producing clear and concise materials.

    • Strong organization and time management skills that enable the ability to prioritize and manage a high volume of detailed work with conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment.

    • Experience/familiarity working with pro-life groups or organizations and knowing how they communicate.

    • Experience using social media in an organizational environment.

    • Awareness of and understanding of Catholic Church theology, structure and hierarchy.

    • Awareness of major life-related issues facing the church in the U.S.

    • Familiarity with web content management systems helpful.

    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and show prudence in handling sensitive information.

    • Ability to follow established policies and procedures and work.

    • Team player attitude and experience working collaboratively with peers, colleagues and others to achieve mission goals and objectives.
