The Arlington Peace and Justice Commission will sponsor "Make Me a Channel of Your Peace: What Pope Francis Asks of us as Peacemakers" at Good Shepherd Church, 8710 Mount Vernon Hwy., Alexandria, Feb. 20, starting with Mass at 5 p.m.

Bishop Oscar Cantú of Las Cruces, N.M., chairman of the USCCB Committee on International Justice and Peace, will deliver the keynote address.

"This event presents an opportunity to look at war and violence and the impact on people's lives, particularly regarding migration and refugee issues," said Father Gerry Creedon, Arlington Peace and Justic Commission chairman. "The pope's direction asks our parishes to be places of welcome, bearing in mind the faith that unites us. Hopefully, we will become beacons of belonging and acceptance."
