Ann Pennefather, a 2015 graduate of Seton School in Manassas, won second place in the National Right to Life Jane B. Thompson oratory contest held last month during the organization’s annual convention in New Orleans. Pennefather was the Virginia representative in the competition, having won the state contest sponsored by the Virginia Society for Human Life.

Presenting her speech on the topic that children with disabilities are a gift from God, Pennefather drew from her experiences with her older brother, Michael Joseph, who was born with severe disabilities. He died in 2008 at the age of 12.

Pennefather will attend Christendom College in Front Royal this fall, majoring in English.
