First slide

Arlington Bishop Paul S. Loverde will join leaders of three other Christian churches as part of this year's Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, Jan. 27, 7:30 p.m., at Mount Olivet United Methodist Church, 1500 N. Glebe Rd., Arlington.

Joining Bishop Loverde will be Bishop Young Jin Cho of the United Methodist Virginia Conference; Bishop Richard Graham of the Metro D.C. Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America; and Bishop Ted Gulick of the Episcopal Diocese of Virginia.

The Church Unity Octave, a forerunner of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, was developed by Father Paul Wattson, at Graymoor in Garrison, N.Y., and was first observed in 1908. The current Week of Prayer for Christian Unity invites the Christian community throughout the world to pray in communion with the prayer of Jesus "that they all may be one" (Jn 17:21).
