The Catholic Business Network of Northern Virginia (CBN-NV), a faith-based business networking organizations, recently appointed Katie Walker, communications director for Arlington diocesan Catholic Charities, to its board of directors. Walker will assume the board portfolio of vice president, advertising and public relations, previously held by Bruce Gemmill, CBN chairman and president.

"We are extremely pleased to have Katie as a member of our board," said Gemmill. "Her active community involvement, as well as the depth of communications knowledge that she brings, will ensure our brand is strengthened throughout the Northern Virginia area."

Walker also has served as communications director for American Life League, the nation's largest grassroots Catholic pro-life organization.

A native of Cincinnati, Walker is the oldest of seven and graduated cum laude from Northern Kentucky University in 2008 with a degree in journalism and political science. While in college, she served as founding president of Northern Right to Life and founding vice president of Students for Life of Kentucky.

Before moving to Washington, D.C., in 2008, Katie served in communications and fundraising for the Comboni Missionaries, an institute of Catholic priests dedicated to the service of the poorest of the poor.
