Sophomore Lexi Ledoyen scored the winning goal on a pass from senior Kelly Larkin with seven seconds left on the clock as the Bishop Ireton Cardinals from Alexandria (18-3) defeated top-ranked Our Lady of Good Counsel High School from Olney, Md., 10-9 to capture their second Washington Catholic Athletic Conference title in the past three years.

The game was played May 9 at the University of Maryland's Ludwig Field.

Ireton Junior Kayla Duperrouzel scored three consecutive goals in the second half to tie the game at 9 goals apiece and set up the heroics by Ledoyen and Larkin, who was named the league's player of the year.

There was no drama on the boys' side as Gonzaga High School of Washington defeated DeMatha High School of Hyattsville, Md., 14-5 to capture its seventh straight conference title.
