Lady Panthers win second straight title

Senior Jonquanae Cole had 16 points and 14 rebounds to lead Paul VI Catholic High School of Fairfax over Good Counsel to earn its second straight Washington Catholic Athletic Conference crown. The game was played Feb. 26 at American University's Bender Arena.

On the boys' side, Gonzaga upset top-seed DeMatha 77-68 in double overtime. Sam Miller scored 19 points to pace the Eagles

Earlier in the tournament, the Bishop O'Connell boys capped off an exciting season by making it to the semifinal round before losing to Gonzaga.

Despite two losses to Paul VI during the regular season, the Knights upset the Panthers in the WCAC quarterfinals 48-44. O'Connell lost to Gonzaga 67-48, sending Gonzaga to the finals against No. 1-ranked DeMatha.

The No. 1-ranked Lady Panthers defeated St. John's in the semifinals 61-49 to earn a spot in the championship game. Paul VI improved its season record to 30-2.
