Photographic portrait of the people’s pope

Fr. Michael Collins talks about his new book, Pope Francis: A Photographic Portrait of the People’s Pope, at St. Ann Church in Arlington Sept. 14. He told anecdotes and stories about Pope Francis, and how he got to know the pope’s official photographer, Rodolfo Felici, whose more than 250 photographs in the book illustrate a year in the life of the pope.

Father Michael Collins spoke to a group of more than 35 about
his new book Pope Francis: A Photographic Portrait of the
People’s Pope
at St. Ann Church in Arlington Sept. 14.

Father Collins, curate of St. Mary’s Church Haddington Road
in Dublin, Ireland, is on a 21-day book tour that includes
New York, Boston, Washington and Philadelphia. The book,
published in the United States by DK Publishing, follows a
year in the life of Pope Francis. It includes more than 250
previously unpublished photos by Rodolfo Felici whose family
has served as official papal photographers for five
generations.

Father Collins also writes regular columns for the
Catholic Times in the United Kingdom and has written
several other books about the history of the papacy and
behind-the-scenes looks at life in the Vatican.
