Walk for Life in Front Royal Oct. 3

The Walk for Life to support the Front Royal Pregnancy Center will begin at 9:30 a.m. Oct. 3 in the parking lot behind FRPC at 11 S. Royal Avenue, Front Royal.

"The women served by the staff and volunteers of the center have found a place that will support them emotionally, spiritually and materially through their pregnancy and even through the first two years of the baby's life," said Mary Brand, director of the walk. "To a person, they are grateful that they had the opportunity to choose life, and they cannot imagine life without their little one."

With the theme of "You're Not Alone," this year's walk hopes to raise $70,000. Proceeds will be used to support women facing unplanned pregnancies with such items as: free ultrasounds, pregnancy tests, counseling, pregnancy and parenting education, social services, medical and legal assistance, as well as material assistance for diapers, formula, car seats, strollers, cribs, maternity and baby clothes, and prenatal vitamins.

"This is a center for our community, supported by our community," said center director Kathy Clowes. "So, in addition to raising much-needed operating funds, we're building a community of moms, volunteers, supporters and all kinds of friends who, whatever their religious or political background, can agree that women with unexpected pregnancies need the best care possible."
