Christendom students excel in Latin competition

Four students from Christendom College in Front Royal won top awards in this year's Latin translation contest sponsored by the Classical Association of the Middle West and South.

At the intermediate level, sophomores Cecilia Gallagher and John Martz were among five first-place winners, and freshman Garrett Boord earned second-place honors. At the advanced level, senior Robert Johnson earned a certificate of commendation.

"Our students' success against some of the best classics departments in the country is a testament to their exceptional Latin scholarship and to the vitality of our program," said Andrew Beer, assistant professor of classical and early Christian studies at Christendom.
