Arlington Bishop Paul S. Loverde will celebrate the 11 a.m.
Mass at St. Joseph Church in Alexandria Feb. 8 to kick off a
yearlong celebration of the church’s centennial.
Founded in 1915 as a mission church of St. Mary in
Alexandria, St. Joseph Church was constructed with funds from
Richmond Bishop Denis J. O’Connell and St. Katharine Drexel,
founder of the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament.
Events are planned to commemorate the parish’s history,
including a banquet, a parish revival and a memorial
dedication.
