Arlington teacher wins grant

Karen Conlin, a teacher from St. Agnes School in Arlington, recently was awarded a grant from the Washington Post’s Grants in Education program for a history book project.

Conlin’s students will interview senior citizens from the Arlington area and compile their life stories into a book for publication. Proceeds will benefit the St. Martin de Porres Senior Center in Alexandria. Conlin was the only diocesan school teacher to receive a grant this year.

The Grants in Education program allows teachers to apply for funds over and above those in their school budgets to implement innovative enrichment activities. Previous grants have averaged $300 each.
