Four churches, with the help of diocesan Catholic Charities, are running a coat drive to help those in need this winter.

The goal is to collect 10,000 coats for the homeless, refugees and immigrants, single mothers and anyone else in need in the region.

Through Sept. 27, new or gently used coats may be dropped off at Holy Spirit Church in Annandale 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Hats, gloves and scarves are also accepted.

Items also can be dropped off during weekend Masses Sept. 21-22 and Sept. 28-29 at the following churches: St. Michael Church in Annandale, Nativity Catholic Church in Burke, St. Mary of Sorrows Church in Fairfax and Holy Spirit.
