A report from the Virginia Catholic Conference published March 19 tracks the most consequential votes state senators and delegates cast during this year’s Virginia General Assembly session, Jan. 8–Feb. 22.
VCC, the public policy arm of Virginia’s Catholic bishops, included in the report votes on what it described as “critical issues impacting human life, dignity and the common good.” Eleven votes cast by senators and nine by delegates are tracked.
The report calls special attention to how lawmakers from each chamber voted on an “extreme abortion amendment” described by the VCC as a “radical resolution to add a ‘right’ to virtually unlimited abortion to Virginia’s constitution, at any stage of pregnancy.”
