At a recent literary fair at St. William of York School in Stafford, students in fourth through eighth grade showcased their creativity and literary talents.
The students were tasked with designing a “book report” board to highlight a range of genres, including classic literary novels, mystery, science fiction, historical fiction, biographies, and non-fiction works.
The students chose books including “Orthodoxy” by G.K. Chesterton; “And Then There Were None” by Agatha Christie; Hardy Boys novels; “The Treehouse Library” by Anna James; “Breaking Stalin’s Nose” by Eugene Yelchin; and “Fever 1793” by Laurie Andersen.
AP English class students from Saint John Paul the Great Catholic High School in Potomac Shores served as judges. They evaluated the story boards based on key literary elements, creativity, organization and grammar. Their insights helped foster a spirit of friendly competition and encouraged young readers to explore the world of literature.
The winners for each grade were Isabelle Lopez (fourth), Emily Wahlin (fifth), Rachel Ryan (sixth), Amber Glinski (seventh), and Mateo Bouroncle (eighth).
