Sister Marie Celine Laird was one of 10 sisters who celebrated their silver jubilee as Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia during a Mass in the chapel of the St. Cecilia Motherhouse in Nashville, Tenn., July 13, with family members and friends present.
A graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas Regional School in Woodbridge, Sister Marie Celine is the daughter of Bob and Geri Laird of Lorton. Her first profession of vows was Aug. 10, 2000. She has served at schools in Hampton; Newport News; Birmingham, Ala.; Greenville, S.C.; Jackson, Tenn.; and Nashville. Sister Marie Celine currently serves in a Montessori classroom at Overbrook Catholic School in Nashville.
Her brother, Jon Laird, organist for St. Ambrose Church in Annandale, was organist for the Mass. Her parents served the Arlington diocese in pro-life work for decades.
