Meet Fr. Kevin Beres, St. Patrick Church’s new pastor

After serving eight years as pastor of St. Peter Church in Washington in Rappahannock County, Father Kevin Beres has been assigned pastor of St. Patrick Church in Fredericksburg, effective June 25. Father Beres celebrated the 25th jubilee of his ordination June 10, 2025. 

Born June 27, 1974, he attended St. Peter Catholic Grade School in Olney, Md., and Centreville High School in Centreville. His family became members of St. Andrew the Apostle Church in Clifton when it was founded in 1989. 

He graduated from Christendom College in Front Royal with a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and a minor in theology in 1996, before attending Mount St. Mary Seminary in Emmitsburg, Md.

At seminary, Father Beres participated in the diocesan program to study Spanish in Puebla, Mexico. He served as a transitional deacon at St. John Church in McLean. 

He was ordained by Bishop Paul S. Loverde June 10, 2000, at the Cathedral of St. Thomas More in Arlington and served as parochial vicar at St. Bernadette Church in Springfield, 2000, and St. Timothy Church in Chantilly, 2004.

Following a period of discernment with the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter, Father Beres served as parochial vicar of St. Michael Church in Annandale, 2008, and St. John the Baptist Church in Front Royal, 2013.

He was appointed pastor of St. Peter in 2018, where he oversaw the 2022 installation of a new altar, additional seating, and a large portrait of Jesus handing the keys of heaven to the parish’s namesake.
