Father David P. Meng, pastor of St. Timothy Church in Chantilly, will become pastor of Holy Spirit Church in Annandale, effective June 25.
Born Nov. 1, 1963, in Washington, he is the son of John and Barbara Meng.
He attended St. Francis College in Loretto, Pa., for one year, then transferred to St. Charles Borromeo Seminary in Wynnewood, Pa., where he earned a bachelor’s in philosophy in 1985. He completed his theological studies at Mount St. Mary’s Seminary in Emmitsburg, Md., earning a master’s in divinity in 1989 and a master’s with a specialization in moral theology in 1990. He was assigned to St. Joseph Church in Alexandria in 1987 as a seminarian, and as a transitional deacon, he served at Sacred Heart Church in Winchester.
He was ordained to the priesthood by Bishop John R. Keating May 20, 1989. After ordination, he was assigned to St. Bernadette Church in Springfield as parochial vicar. He served as chaplain at Bishop O’Connell High School in Arlington with residence at St. John the Beloved Church in McLean, 1993. He was then assigned parochial vicar of St. Theresa Church in Ashburn, 1996. He was appointed founding administrator of St. Matthew Church in Spotsylvania in 1999 and named pastor in 2000. He served as pastor of St. William of York Church in Stafford, 2004, and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Lake Ridge, 2008. He was appointed pastor of St. Timothy Church in Chantilly June 28, 2017.
Father Meng also served a term on the diocesan college of consultors and on the priests council.
In 2023, he launched the parish’s SPRED program, a special religious education program for children and young adults with developmental disabilities.
