Bishop Burbidge makes first pastoral visit to Shenandoah University

Bishop Michael F. Burbidge celebrated Mass at Shenandoah University and spent time with SU’s Catholic Campus Ministry April 19.This marks Bishop Burbidge’s first pastoral visit to the Winchester university.

More than 100 people attended the Mass, by far the largest attendance ever for a Mass at SU, according to organizers. The CCM choir led music for the assembly and ended Mass with an inspiring Hallelujah Chorus by Handel.

Bishop Burbidge was welcomed by SU President Tracy Fitzsimmons, other university dignitaries and the students and staff of CCM.

The evening ended with CCM’s End-of-Year Banquet. Bishop Burbidge closed the event with a commissioning of the newly elected CCM student leaders and a blessing of the attendees.
