The Virginia Catholic Conference, representing the dioceses
of Arlington and Richmond, recently published charts of local
legislators’ votes on key issues debated during the 2014
General Assembly session Jan. 14-Feb. 27.
Advocacy by the VCC was instrumental in the defeat of a
secretive execution drug proposal and in the passage of
measures to fight sex trafficking, protect religious speech
and compensate victims of a forced-sterilization program that
once operated in Virginia.
During the session, the VCC took formal positions on 87 bills
and eight budget amendments. The charts record seven Senate
floor and committee votes and three House floor votes.
