Good Shepherd Church in Alexandria will host its 40th
International Festival, Sept. 5-7, 8710 Mount Vernon Hwy.,
Alexandria. Celebrations begin Sept. 5 with a 5k race/1-mile
fun run at 8 a.m., and a white elephant sale from 9:30 a.m.
to 4 p.m.

The noon Mass Sept. 6 will be celebrated as a multicultural
Mass, with prayers and music in several languages.

“We, though many, are one body in Christ Jesus,” said Father
Thomas P. Ferguson, pastor. “So, in the midst of the cultural
diversity we treasure, we also recognize and celebrate our
common culture as parishioners.”

Festival Day will be Sept. 7, with bingo, games and rides
from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Food booths will offer Spanish,
Chinese, Italian, German and Irish fare. Raffle tickets will
be on sale all weekend for a grand prize of $10,000.

Proceeds of the festival will be donated to the Shepherd’s
Gate Grant Program to support nonprofit organizations helping
those less fortunate.
