The diocesan Peace and Justice Commission will sponsor its
fall conference, “Race Relations: Educating to End Racism and
Build Solidarity,” at Marymount University, 2807 N. Glebe
Rd., Arlington, Sept. 5. Arlington Bishop Paul S. Loverde
will celebrate the opening Mass at 9 a.m.
Conference speakers include: Father Henry Sands, newly
appointed director of the USCCB Black and Indian Mission
Office; Deacon Al Turner, former director of the Washington
Archdiocese Office of Black Catholics; and Maria Hamm,
director of the Washington Archdiocese Office of Hispanic
Family Life.
