International Week of Prayer and Fasting

The International Week of Prayer and Fasting, sponsored by an
international coalition of Catholic organizations to pray for conversions and
protection of Catholic values, will take place Nov. 2-10. The coalition is
uniting with organizations including the Marians of the Immaculate Conception,
Legion of Mary, Priests for Life, Rosary Coast to Coast and others to pray and
fast for the conversion of nations, a culture of life, defense of marriage and
vocations, and more.

The opening event will be held at the Basilica of the National
Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, 400 Michigan Ave., N.E., Washington, Nov.
2, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. The event will include the global living rosary,
confessions, Mass and procession of the nations. Msgr. Charles Pope will celebrate
Mass. Other speakers include Congregation of Marians of the Immaculate
Conception Father Chris Alar, director of the Assocation of Marian Helpers; Kristan
Hawkins, president of Students for Life of America; Abby Johnson, whose story
is told in the movie “Unplanned”; and Father Ubald Rugirangoga, Rwandan
genocide survivor.
