Diocesan students and parishioners joined the impromptu,
nationwide movement to bring color and cheer amid the pandemic by writing
encouraging notes with colorful chalk on sidewalks.

“Having our students participate in #SomethingToChalkAbout gives
our children a way to have a positive impact in their community during this new
and unsettling situation,” said Kelly Brinley, assistant principal of St.
Bernadette School in Springfield. “The artwork gives them a way to express
themselves.”

The artwork exudes hope and cheer, and proves the pandemic hasn’t
gotten the students down —  not by a long
chalk.
