Father James F. Waalkes, parochial vicar of St. Anthony of Padua Church in Falls Church, sang and played guitar with the band The Chosen at a concert June 12 at the church in honor of the June 13 parish feast day.
Father Waalkes, ordained last year during the pandemic, has been playing and writing music since age 15.
He achieved near rock star status among preschoolers at St. Philip Church last year after Father Denis M. Donahue, pastor, suggested he record “Old MacDonald” and post it on YouTube for children stuck at home due to the pandemic.
