Bishop Michael F. Burbidge blessed the studio at the chancery in Arlington Oct.13 in recognition of the 100th episode of “The Walk Humbly Podcast” and renamed it the St. Clare Studio.
St. Clare of Assisi is the patron saint of television and the foundress of the Poor Clares religious order, Bishop Burbidge noted.
“It’s providential I think that, in this age of new technology and ever-emerging communications platforms, that we choose this name for our studio,” he said.
The podcast was launched in January 2018. The new studio was completed in the fall of the same year.
In the podcast, Bishop Burbidge discusses a variety of diocesan, local and national news. Some of the most popular episodes include the July 10, 2020, episode on the Black Lives Matter movement, vandalized statues, defunding police, and reopening diocesan schools; the March 13, 2020, episode on the coronavirus (special edition); and the Sept. 30, 2020, episode on a presidential debate recap, Judge Amy Coney Barrett and the bishop’s meeting with refugees.
