Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Thanksgiving is a uniquely American holiday in which we gather with family and friends to give thanks for our many blessings, given to us by Our Lord.
So it is fitting, as we enter this second preparatory year leading to our 50th anniversary, that we recall the timeless words of our Blessed Mother Mary when she proclaimed, “My soul rejoices in the Lord.”
This Thanksgiving, as we express gratitude for our country, our family, our faith and all that the Lord has done for us and given to us, I pray that we all take a moment simply to rejoice in him. Mary rejoiced in the Lord. Her humility and holiness allowed her to embrace, with gratitude, the generosity and goodness of God and appreciate Christ Our Lord in love. May we always follow her example.
During this holiday, please keep in prayer our many brothers and sisters who are alone, without a home, or in need of a good meal and good company. Generously offer to the poor and vulnerable a share of what you have received, in thanksgiving, so that others may know the blessings of God and rejoice in his goodness.
Together, may we rejoice and give praise to God, the source of all good gifts. Happy Thanksgiving!
