Roy and Valerie Naquin, parishioners of Corpus Christi Church in Aldie, celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary last month at age 91 and 89, respectively. They married June 13, 1953, at St. Ann Church in Arlington with Father James O’Hara officiating.
Through their years together, the Naquins have lived throughout Northern Virginia, all part of the Arlington diocese. They had seven children (now ages 59 to 69) who attended elementary school at Our Lady of Good Counsel in Vienna.
The Naquins have 17 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren, and still counting.
A Mass celebrated by Father Michael G. Taylor, pastor of Corpus Christi, marked the anniversary. The couple’s youngest grandson, Austin Herrera, assisted Father Taylor as altar server. All seven children, as well as several friends and fellow parishioners came to the Mass, which included a special 70th anniversary blessing, an exchange of prayers of thanksgiving between the couple and a blessing of their rings. After Mass, the couple continued the celebration with a family luncheon at Clyde’s Willow Creek Farm in Broadlands.
