From Sept. 15 to Oct. 15, our nation celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month. This observance gives us the opportunity to reflect on the many gifts and blessings brought by our Hispanic brothers and sisters to the parishes, schools and neighborhoods of the Diocese of Arlington. We are most grateful for the countless ways they have enriched us through their devotional life and inspiring faith.
Pope Francis once said, “Welcoming others means welcoming God in person!” Therefore, we pray for and welcome particularly those Hispanic brothers and sisters who have recently arrived in our country. We recognize that many have left their loved ones behind in their home countries for the chance to find work and safety. As baptized members of God’s kingdom, they are an integral part of our diocesan family.
Through the intercession of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Patroness of the Americas and Star of the New Evangelization, may Our Lord Jesus continue to bless and watch over our Hispanic brothers and sisters today and always.
