The 31st Annual International Week of Prayer and Fasting runs from Oct. 20 to Oct. 28. The grassroots movement involves Catholics and other Christians in a global network of prayer and fasting.

IWOPF co-founders and hosts, Ted and Maureen Flynn, will begin the week with pre-recorded talks online at IWOPF.org featuring Antonia Acutis (mother of Blessed Carlo Acutis), Father Chris Alar, Father Robert Altier, Father David Gunter, Dr. Peter Howard, Nikki Kingsley, Mark Houck, Karen Japzon and Father Ron Stone.

The week culminates Oct. 28 at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington. The event will include a procession of the nations; noon Mass celebrated by Birmingham Bishop Emeritus Robert J. Baker; all-day Eucharistic adoration; a global living rosary; recitation of the Divine Mercy Chaplet; and confession.

Organizers say the goal is to pray for the conversion of all people and nations; to build a culture of life; to defend the sanctity of marriage and family life; for peace and to implore God’s mercy; for all priests, vocations, and holiness of members of the church.

A 3-day virtual conference runs Oct. 20, 21 and 23. The theme for this year’s IWOPF Conference is “Miracles of the Eucharist.”
