During this National Catholic Schools Week, please join me in recognizing and celebrating our Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Arlington, which are known for their strong Catholic identity and excellence in education.
The mission of Catholic schools is to assist parents in the education and faith formation of their children so they may grow in their love and knowledge of Christ and be moved to serve him and others. I am so proud that our Catholic Schools carry out that mission with great distinction.
I extend my heartfelt and sincere appreciation to you, the parents, who make many sacrifices so your children can receive a Catholic education. Thank you for taking seriously your role as the first teachers of your children in the ways of faith and for giving our Catholic educators the privilege of assisting you.
With you dear parents, I express profound thanks to our school leaders, teachers, and administrative staff for their faithful, dedicated, and generous service and to our pastors who support them in every way possible. Whenever I visit our schools, I witness the many ways our Catholic educators inspire our students, help them to grow in knowledge and wisdom, and lead them to a closer relationship with the Lord.
Dear Catholic Educators: thank you for the gift you are to our diocese and to all those you serve!
As we prepare to celebrate the 50th anniversary of our diocese, we remember with deep gratitude all those who have served in our Catholic Schools throughout our history and pray for the grace to build upon the strong foundations on which our schools have been built.
May Our Lord continue to bless our parents, their children, and all our school communities at this exciting time in the life of our diocese and always.
