The Catholic Business Network of Northern Virginia has awarded $2,500 to each of the four diocesan high schools: Bishop Ireton, Bishop O’Connell, John Paul the Great, and Paul VI. The checks were presented to representatives of the schools during a special reception at La Fiamma Italian Kitchen in Alexandria Feb. 13.

The funds are for providing financial assistance for tuition. The recipients will be students who have demonstrated a commitment to their studies and communities and might not be able to continue at the school otherwise.

“We are thankful to our members and board for their continued support, which makes these awards possible,” said Pat Ennis, CBN-NOVA’s president. “Our wonderful schools are helping to ensure that we have future generations of leaders and businesspeople of faith and integrity. Our society needs this now, more than ever.”

Among the attendees were Kathleen McNutt, Ireton’s head of school; Bill Crittenberger, Bishop O’Connell’s head of school; Dominican Sister Ann Dominic, John Paul the Great’s assistant principal; and Laura Swenson, Paul VI’s head of school. Also in attendance was Joe Vorbach, diocesan superintendent of schools.

CBN, through membership and networking meetings, is an association of businesses and organizations whose mission is to support Catholic education.
