The Ancient Order of Hibernians sixth annual St Patrick Coloring Contest, open to kindergarten through fourth grade students, concluded with 16 children from nine diocesan schools honored at a ceremony Feb. 24.

Holy Cross Academy third-grade student Audrey Roche was awarded the grand prize at the recognition ceremony for all 16 winners at St. Mary of Sorrows Church in Fairfax. First through third-place winners for each grade received a framed copy of their winning submission, a winner t-shirt and a shamrock plant used to explain the Holy Trinity.

Nearly 2,000 entries from over 30 parish schools were received. In the last six years, 16 different parish schools have produced winners. Caddie Travel of Vienna is the major supporter of the contest. Shamrock plants were provided by a grant from Wegmans.
