On this World Day for Consecrated Life, we celebrate the men and women religious who consecrate their lives to the Lord through the counsels of poverty, chastity and obedience. Through their presence, their prayer and their participation in our schools, parishes and other apostolates, they inspire and enrich our diocese. May they remember, as Pope Francis has said, that, “It is beautiful — and a great grace — to be completely and forever consecrated to God and the service of our brothers and sisters” (Message for the 2018 World Day of Vocations).

Please join me in praying for the more than 160 consecrated persons currently serving in the Diocese of Arlington, including religious, brothers and sisters. May Our Lord Jesus bless them and their faithful service to the Church and to God’s people.

We pray also for the 61 men and women from our diocese who are currently in formation for religious orders throughout the world, and for those who are still discerning the call to serve the Lord through a life of total consecration. May Our Heavenly Father grant them the wisdom and courage to know and follow His will.
