Bishop Emeritus Paul S. Loverde, the third bishop of Arlington, will celebrate the 30th anniversary of his ordination as a bishop April
12. He was ordained an auxiliary bishop for the Archdiocese of Hartford in 1988. He served as Bishop of Arlington from 1999 to 2016.

“I appreciate the opportunity to thank Bishop Loverde for his many years of service to the Diocese of Arlington, and for the 30 years he has faithfully served as a Bishop,” said Bishop Michael F. Burbidge. “Through ordination to the episcopate, one is called to Teach, Sanctify and Govern as a successor of the apostles. Bishop Loverde lives out this ministry with total devotion and absolute joy. He has, and continues to be, an inspiration and model for me in my service to the Church.

“May Our Lord continue to bless Bishop Loverde in his sacred call on behalf of the people of God,” Bishop Burbidge said.
