After a nearly yearlong search, the Don Bosco Center, an
after-school program for at-risk and other youths, has found a permanent
location at the Martin K. Alloy Boys & Girls Club of Manassas.

The program, run by the Youth Apostles, was based out of the
Georgetown South Community Center for 14 years until the Georgetown South Board
voted to terminate the center’s contract for the space.

The Don Bosco Center was unable to find a permanent location at
the end of the school year, so the Knights of Columbus George Brent Council at
All Saints Church in Manassas opened its doors to the program during the summer
and part of the school year. Burger King also allowed the center to use its
space on Mondays and Wednesdays.

The new location at 9501 Dean Park Lane will give the center use
of an office, two large activity rooms and a gym.  Students also will be able to ride a bus from
the nearby middle school.

“We’re certainly excited that we can continue to serve the young
people of Manassas,” said Youth Apostles Father Ramon Dominguez, director. “The
new location is bigger and gives us an opportunity to grow. It also positions
us in a good solid situation with the schools in the community and opens up opportunities
to work with the Boys & Girls Club because we are using their facility.”
