Josephite Fr. Frank Hull dies at 96

Josephite Fr. Frank Hull died at 96.

Josephite Father Frank M. Hull, former pastor of St. Joseph
Church in Alexandria, died May 26 at age 96. Father Hull, who had underlying
health issues, died from COVID-19 at the Josephite Senior Residence in
Washington.

 

Father Hull was born Dec. 20, 1923, in Philadelphia and graduated
from St. Thomas More High School there. During World War II, he served in the U.S.
Army Air Corps.

 

In 1948, he entered the Josephite minor seminary in Newburgh,
N.Y. He was ordained a Josephite priest June 8, 1957, in Washington, and was
involved in many facets of the order’s ministry including teacher at St.
Augustine High School in New Orleans; spiritual director and vice rector at St.
Joseph Seminary in Washington; editor of the Josephite Harvest
Magazine; and area director for the Josephite General Council.

 

He served at parishes in Houston, New Orleans and Washington
before being assigned pastor of St. Joseph from 2002 until his retirement in
2012.

 

After a brief retirement, he worked for the parish ministry of
Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Washington and then was director of the
Josephite Archives in Baltimore and Washington.

 

His funeral was June 3.
